Related: About this forumWhere did ISIS come from? How was it able to gain land, arms and money so quickly? See this:
Part 1 shows that the U.S. through bad policies and stupid choices is largely responsible for the rise of ISIS.
Part 2 reveals the strange history of the leaders of ISIS Including one who never really existed, and another who if you read mainstream media drivel
was killed then arrested and then killed again.
Part 3 delves into the little-known, secret history of Iraq and Syria and discusses the real motivations behind our current policies towards those countries.
And Part 4 reveals the shocking truth about who is really supporting ISIS.

It took quite a while just to scan through.
I bookmarked it to read, check out the links, and watch all the videos later.

(15,805 posts)I thought I knew most of the underhanded skullduggery going on behind the scenes in America's foreign policy, but this is a real eye-opener. Next time one of my dear right wing relatives start spouting off about "Those dang Islamofascists hate us for our freedoms...", I'll be better armed.

(60,010 posts)and how the PNAC players were involved that far back.
I have to admit, I will be reading this article several times over. LOTS of info and citations.

(14,459 posts)I remember when they had a more cooperative gov't in place offering to help us with various things, and the Bush Admin was busy telling them that they were part of the "Axis of Evil" TM). I would have called it a more moderate gov't, but then I found out how we were farming out rendition subjects to them to torture for us, so nothing is ever as clear cut as it seems.

(1,333 posts)Gonna bookmark and read later.I think its quite easy to see that since ISIS is doing the heavy load of defeating Assad, if they didn't create it, they definitely don't mind its existence.
Regime change business after the Iraq debacle can only be done via proxies and ISIS just like the mujaheddin in Afghanistan is the perfect vehicle for it.

(3,076 posts)... or the recent gulf wars in a nutshell. Reading over it, I recall all those news and intelligence tidbits I have come across over the past 17 years.
Like many of us said, it is, "Oil for Israel". Israel had been upset ever since the oil pipeline to Haifa was shut down.

(2,382 posts)... that planted the seeds of this monumental cluster-fuck keep piling one lie on top of another in a futile effort to bury the truth. Give it up, boys and girls; you're done. Do not subject the decent people of this country to one more nanosecond of Dickhead Cheney trying to rewrite history. Admit you were wrong, say you're sorry even if you don't mean it, and retire to spend more time with your families while you await your indictments.
It is LONG past time for a tectonic reevaluation of our foreign policies, and our national obsession with dominating the planet. Let's start by dissolving the CIA. That pack of hyenas has done more to damage America's standing in the world than any other government agency. But first, make them apologize publicly to all the countries whose democratically elected governments they overthrew and replaced with dictators. One of the first was Iran in 1953. Let's start there.
And any warmongers in Congress have to be front and center in the first wave of any future invasions. Maybe when they get their hair parted by a slug from an AK-47 they'll think twice about their bloodlust. Especially when it's THEIR blood soaking into the sand.

(60,010 posts)I was rather shocked back then at how many members here shouted down any possibility of nefarious motives for our invasion...facts be damned.
I am now pleased to see that since around 2008, people are looking at events much differently.

(14,459 posts)But an amazing one- as much as I knew before, this scares me a lot. How are we supposed to stop this 1984ish behavior, where 3 superpowers are constantly at war both with each other and their own people??
