X-Post: The first seed has sprouted in my starter pots, yaaayyy!!!! Baby cuke's are so - cute.

While I'm at it, will mention a trip I took to the Dollar Tree in the nearest 'big' city 65 miles away yesterday. First time in 3 years. Bought the place out, very practical items. I took one look at all those beautiful bright colored wash buckets and thought: PLANTERS!

from Gardener's Supply (which is a B corp, which apparently is some new designation for companies trying to blend profitability with social responsibility?). The last few years I've had a devil of a time finding all of my cukes, so that I wind up only spotting half of them when they're waaay too large and seedy. I'm also hoping I'll get a better total crop if they're off the ground, so that I can make and can some more relish, and not just use them all fresh with salads. More than I wanted to spend, but hopefully I'll be using them for many years to come, and amortize that cost...

The satisfaction from seeing the babies pop up is great. Good luck with the veggies.

And it does good like a great idea to use wash buckets in pretty colors as planters. Even the cheapest planters have become so expensive anymore.
