99 Ways to Save....from AARP

I was reading my AARP Bulletin, and ran across these tips on saving money. Many of them are things that I already do or know I should do. Some were things that I had never considered or heard about. Some are only applicable for AARP members or people who are older, but most of them are for everyone. They are categorized online by topic.

Some of my favorites:

In Food---I use the suggestion that I bolded, and it works crazy well, I just put in plastic bags, and not just greens. It works for carrots and celery and beans, etc.:

9. Waste not. The average American family of four spends about $1,600 a year on food it never eats. To save what you pay for: Refrigerate greens in a damp paper towel in an airtight container; blanch fresh vegetables and freeze them in one-meal portions; make overripe fruit into compote; store leftovers in glass containers so you can see them.

From Save While Shopping---I did not know about some of these seasonal buys, but I do know there are many more. In fact, there could probably be a whole post on this:

2. Seasonal specials. Winter is the best time to buy homes, exercise equipment and TVs; spring is best for computers, digital cameras and carpeting; summer for indoor furniture, camcorders and snow blowers; and fall for lawn mowers, gas grills and GPS navigators

Like everything else there are some good and some less useful tips in the lists, but it never hurts to take a look.
