Hurricane Patricia Had Maximum Sustained Winds of 215 MPH (upgraded from 200MPH)

Record-breaking Hurricane Patricia had stronger maximum sustained winds at its peak intensity than previously thought, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said Thursday.

The NHC report says that maximum sustained winds topped out at 215 mph (185 knots) on the morning of Oct. 23, 2015, when Patricia was spinning off the coast of Mexico in the eastern Pacific Ocean. This is 15 mph higher than the 200-mph winds stated in advisories issued by the NHC when the hurricane was ongoing, which already made it the strongest hurricane on record in either the eastern Pacific or Atlantic Ocean basins.

For us on land it is the wind when it actually is beating us to death after landfall.

My oldest son, an art student, often remarks that Bosch was the first surrealist.

I discovered Bosch when I was a kid and read Kosinski's "The Painted Bird" the cover of which featured a detail of Bosch's The Last Judgement.

Speaking of Last Judgements, December of 2015 was recorded at Mauna Loa as the worst recorded there as the worst ever, 3.00 ppm over December of 2014.

I don't know what we'd do if we didn't have solar roadways.

Until that moment, I had no idea that anybody prior to Dali had done that kind of work. I was totally transfixed. And I recall thinking "Here this guy was doing surrealism, in the freaking middle ages."

I chose the Reino Sophia to see Guernica again. They also (happily) have a full gallery of art devoted to artists dissing Franco.

I saw Guernica many times when it was in New York, and I missed it badly. I didn't realize that the Garden of Earthly Delights was at the Prado.

Now I feel kind of bad that I didn't make the Prado the priority.

It was a business trip; I had few hours to myself, and it was my first time to Madrid. I was surprised at how much I loved that city. I must return someday and see the Garden of Earthly Delights.
