TRINIDAD, Colo. - He allegedly charged nearly $3,000 to guide hunters to kill big game, but Colorado Parks and Wildlife says he had no license to do so.
A "lengthy and detailed investigation" into James Hirschboeck began after more than 15 hunters and four landowners filed complaints about him and his company, Colorado Elk Adventures. CPW spokesman Kyle Davidson explains that the department sent investigators undercover on hunts with the 53-year-old Trinidad resident.
Those investigators spent three days with Hirschboeck and a dozen other hunters who paid for guided hunts.
"Upon arrival, the investigators observed that Hirschboecks property was strewn with alfalfa hay; a practice typically used for baiting deer and elk," CPW wrote in an announcement of Hirschboeck's arrest.
