Are we already in abrupt climate change?

Radio Ecoshock Podcast

Climate change is behind one of the biggest stories of our times, the outpouring of refugees from the Middle East. Let me just read one paragraph from a paper published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences March 2nd, 2015. The title is: "Climate change in the Fertile Crescent and implications of the recent Syrian drought". The lead author was Colin Kelly.

They say:

"There is evidence that the 2007-2010 drought contributed to the conflict in Syria. It was the worst drought in the instrumental record, causing widespread crop failure and a mass migration of farming families to urban centers."

They found a severe 3 year drought was 2 to 3 times more likely due to human-induced climate change, and then write: "We conclude that human influences on the climate system are implicated in the current Syrian conflict."

...that the idiots we need to convince also believe "guns don't kill people, people kill people". If they can't make a direct link like that, how in the world can we ever expect them to see a the climate issue for what it is?

AFAICT, the goal is to replace peoples' cortical reasoning centers with fossil fueled fallacy engines. I never thought that goal would seem so close.

There is some very scary stuff in this 1 hour podcast. The entire Pacific ocean is far above normal surface temperature right now.

And probably at least 3 years past tipping point unless we try something stupid, like shrouding the world in sulfuric acid clouds.

The Pentagon was studying for future military needs over a decade ago, predicated on upheavals and unrest caused by water access and climate conditions. Widely known.

And the republicans and their useful idiots just yammer on about how 'ridiculous' a link between the two is.

Let me see if I can find an archive of the news reports. It wasn't classified or anything, just general knowledge.
