(10,749 posts)1. Too bad you can't transfer weather
I'd be more than happy to send you the snow that has blanketed New Hampshire this season. I'd like just a little break, but we've had maybe 2-3 days in the past three weeks where we've seen the sun, and we've had a definite shortage of degrees.

Dog sled races are also a big set of events in the the towns and National Forests around Yellowstone NP, the latest one being a week ago in West Yellowstone, MT where it RAINED all day Saturday.
For the last three days local radio has been making frequent announcements that go like this:
The American Dog Derby - Ashton, Idaho Dog Sled Race
Due to unusually warm weather, and out of concern for the safety of dogs and mushers alike, the race committee has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2015 American Dog Derby. We truly appreciate the support of our mushers, sponsors and the community of Ashton. Look forward to seeing you all in 2016!

We need several feet of snow here, we're down a lot. Some areas got enough but it's spotty. Looks like the mushers are going to need to hold their races in new places.

He said that dog sled expeditions to the North Pole are pretty much a thing of the past, as one needs to deal with open water now.
