Clearly, The United States Senate Is A Hoax - Vox

On Wednesday, the Senate got together to take a few votes on whether global warming was real or not. This was serious business, and they had a lot to think about. For 25 years now, the world's climate scientists have been warning that if we kept burning fossil fuels, the planet would get hotter. "Emissions resulting from human activities are substantially increasing the atmospheric concentrations of greenhouse gases," the experts wrote in the first Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report back in 1990. "These increases will enhance the greenhouse effect, resulting on average in an increase in global warming."

Those scientists said the same thing in 1995.

They said it more loudly in 2001.

They said it louder still in 2007.

And they said it again in 2014. In that last report, in fact, climate scientists said they were now 95 percent sure that human activity was the dominant cause of global warming since 1950. They're about as sure of this as they are that smoking cigarettes causes cancer.

EDIT

But then came a tougher question. Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI) put forward an amendment that said: "To express the sense of the Senate that climate change is real; and human activity significantly contributes to climate change." So the senators thought about it. And thought about it. This was a tricky one. They thought some more. In the end, just 50 senators voted "yes" on this question.* But 49 senators voted "no." The amendment failed to pick up the 60 votes necessary to overcome a filibuster and was rejected.

In conclusion, the Senate is pretty clearly a hoax.

In any case, Obama has stated repeatedly that he 'doesn't have time to hold a meeting of the Flat Earth Society' and he reiteratered in the SOTU this week that he takes the word of NASA and will act accordingly. He had already taken measures to act without the assistance of the GOP, who run on their mythology.

The GOP's branch of CT vendors admit the climate is changing, but it's because of the alignment of the planets, etc. For their fundy branch, it's the Judgment of Gawd. That is right there in the Scriptures, all that is happening, written 2K years ago. Oh, don't forget the NWO aspect along with Agenda 21 to take their freedoms.

Okay, back to the mythical GOP with a brain. They allege they are resisting government action because it is bad for bidness, or unfairly applied. Or that they agree but they only disagree with the methods of combatting its effects. Science fiction is no longer Fiction anymore and the ones with the most wealth are planning to leave the Planet or stay at sea. No kidding.

NOT that humans are the cause. That was the failed amendment.

he's been saying for years the world is so big it's able to fix itself so humans can't be the cause of it. His view helped to found others as I detailed above.

They want to cling to the idea it's not caused by humans because it would require the evil gubbermint to act on a scale as too many refuse to stop doing the things they do. Because that would be Tyranny!

But their money won't save them, most of them. I gotta go, thanks for explaining that they had separated the two. The 98 vote, even if they can't agree without enraging their wingnut base that it's caused by humans, still allows the GOP cover to do something, like support the plans Obama has enacted the last few years.

Gotta get some sleep...
