Oz Mine Magnate Clive Palmer Hosting "Global Climate Conf." Day After G20, Won't Say Who's Invited

But it's really top-drawer people - ex-presidents, Nobel Prize winners n'such. Really, seriously!

EDIT

Amid calls for climate change to be added to the G20 agenda, Palmer suggested that “major international leaders” would be coming to his Palmer Coolum Resort “to draw attention to climate change, what can be done about it”.

“It will be held the day after the last day of the G20 in Brisbane and it will be keeping attention on the need to have a global emissions trading scheme,” Palmer said on Monday. “Over the coming weeks and months we’ll be making announcements of the world leaders who will be coming to attend this conference just after the G20. That’s an exciting thing for the Sunshine Coast.”

Palmer provided no details about people likely to attend his event. “Well, we’ll be having ex-presidents of other countries – I can’t tell you who they are because their own countries have got to announce them – former presidents and former heads of state of other countries,” he said. “There’ll be some other eminent people, Nobel prize winners and others that’ll be coming here on climate change.”

Palmer’s senators voted in July to abolish the carbon pricing scheme legislated by the previous government. The abolished system was due to move to a floating-price emissions trading scheme next year.

For anyone who has missed the diplomatic skills of this "gentleman" ...

“It’s not true, it’s false,” he said, accusing the Chinese of wanting to take over Australian ports
and control Australian resources.

“I don’t mind standing up against the Chinese bastards and stopping them from doing it,” he said.

He then called the Chinese “mongrels,” and when the audience reacted he said: “I’m saying that
because they’re communist, because they shoot their own people, they haven’t got a justice system
and they want to take over this country.”

Mind you, he's following in the footsteps of a previous Australian PM ...

His insults could even be called mild compared with those of then prime minister Kevin Rudd
in his notorious diatribe – “those Chinese fuckers are trying to rat-fuck us” – during the
Copenhagen climate talks in 2009.
