The coal, gas and oil we use. How long ago were they plants

and animals getting sustenance from the sun? And for how long were they getting sun before they died and became fossil fuels? Because that is what we are doing...taking stuff that absorbed the energy of the sun for say 100 million years, say 100 million years ago, and burning it off in one century. And we wonder why we are warming up. It is time that we called fossil fuels what they are: uber-concentrated sunshine.

Through its blocking of infrared wavelengths. Just a chance physical characteristic of the gas. The actual heat of combustion is negligible compared to the increased solar gain.
