‘Every Plant And Tree Died’: Huge Alberta Pipeline Spill Raises Safety Questions

"As the Obama administration’s decision regarding whether to approve the controversial Keystone XL pipeline draws nearer, the latest disaster is raising serious concerns about the safety of Canada’s rapidly expanding pipeline network.

A massive toxic waste spill from an oil and gas operation in northern Alberta is being called one of the largest recent environmental disasters in North America. First reported on June 1, the Texas-based Apache Corp. didn’t reveal the size of the spill until June 12, which is said to cover more than 1,000 acres.

Members of the Dene Tha First Nation tribe are outraged that it took several days before they were informed that 9.5 million liters of salt and heavy-metal-laced wastewater had leaked onto wetlands they use for hunting and trapping."

if intelligent life ever finds the ruins of our civilization, they will wonder why we insisted on using poison for energy (oil and nuke) when we had so many other options...

the oil companies OWN the money machines on this whole PLANET...nobody on the earth is as wealthy, so the control us ALL...regardless of governments, without borders, above the laws...

no way to stop them, is there?

Our elected 'leaders' are beholden to them. TPTB will not allow a discussion on capitalism or a different way of living. Profit is god.

Years ago Dennis Miller once said he didn't care what state the planet was in for his great-great-great grandchildren because he would be dead & he would never know them. I believe there are many, many CEOs/politicians who feel the same way.

wow, what an extremely callous thing to think!

I don't know how it's gonna stop either...I guess 'hoping' for a solar flare to take out the grid could be one approach...but it would literally take something like the movie 'the day the earth stood still' to stop it.
awful, horrible, and MY kids are gonna be the ones living it, not great-0grandkids...

The repeated claims that they are by the oil and gas company surrogates are fucking lies.
