I have a tree and don't know what to do with it!

I ordered some shrubs and got a free maple tree. I don't have room for it in my yard and don't know who to give it to. I can't think of any neighbors or family that would want it. I can't bear the thoughts of just throwing it away.

I was just wondering if I could plant if in some of the National Forest that is close to me. I don't want to get in trouble with the park service and they do monitor pretty heavily.

Any feasible ideas will be appreciated.

3. Check with the Forest Service, or a local Parks Dept. They'll have guidelines / procedures.

In our County there's an approved list of trees and they handle the actual planting. One note - they don't accept donated trees. The process here is that you donate the cost of the tree, they buy it and plant it.

If the maple came directly from a certified nursery that may change things. Good luck!

And there's the option of posting a notice locally - "Free maple to anyone with suitable space and conditions".

They might know of someone who has room in their yard to plant it, and would like to have it.

5. Put it on craigslist - they have a "free" section for give-a-ways.

Be sure to include your phone number. There seems to be a lot of problems with craigslist's email forwarding system.

7. I will do that first! Thanks for reminding me. If that doesn't work, I will try some of the other
