An overview article about the Energiewende (Germany)

I'm fascinated about the German project. One of the big takeaway lessons, for me, is that it is important to consider the overall grid and power structure of the country BEFORE shifting power gears. The German project is revolutionary, but the major failure to date has been a failure to build out the grid infrastructure, which is destroying the ability of the individual investors to build the production projects.

And then, the costs are formidable. There are also legal impediments about building the new transmission lines - localities keep filing suit to stop construction.
