"Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) may hold up Senate confirmation of President Obamas nominee for Interior secretary because the Interior Department wont approve construction of a road in Alaska.
Interior announced this week that it does not intend to allow a road through the Izembek National Wildlife Refuge, a project advocates say is needed so residents of King Cove can reach an all-weather airport in Cold Bay for medical evacuations.
Murkowski told The Hill Thursday she would consider placing a procedural 'hold' on the nomination of Sally Jewell over the proposed road. 'It may be that I have got to make threats, it may be that I have got to hold something up, I am hoping that I dont have to, Murkowski said in the Capitol."

(86,740 posts)excuse for putting a hold on a nomination and I suspect she's blowing smoke. If you look at a relief map of where she's talking about, her demand makes absolutely no sense. There's no way a proper road that could be accessible year round is possible in that terrain and that close to the ocean. There is already an airport at King Cove and if they wanted to get to an airport to get medevac service. they'd be wise to simply expand the airport that is already there. She's so full of it on this BS. She's starting to sound like Caribou Barbie.

(86,740 posts)and i wonder if she has the cajones to actually do it. But then, her oily overlords may be demanding this of her so she's putting out for them... it's all about punishment for BO and everyone who voted for him at this point. She needs to yank her head out of that lower orifice.
Here's an interesting discussion on the point I'm making though it's about what the Rs are doing with Hagel's appointment, it's pretty much the same ploy only I think they hate him more than the DOI nominee right now and they hate the pres ten times more than anybody else. I think Hagel is the only one they hate nearly as much unless you count HRC, she would come between them on the most hated scale.
