~snip~
Hundreds of people now have water service, and this news does not come from a Third World country. It comes from here -- far West in Canutillo and far East in the Sand Hills neighborhood near Horizon City.
How many of us have not gone a day in our lives without all the water we need? Drink, cook, bathe, clean ... water our lawns and outdoor plants. And how often does it cross our minds that so many people in this area live without such a basic utility.
These areas are usually described as colonias, border region neighborhoods lacking modern water distribution systems -- sometimes electricity, too. Often roads are not paved.
Third World conditions.

(392 posts)1. SO SAD FOR THE 21ST CENTURY
I know Texas is different but establishing a third world area within the great state is bizarre.
I live in California, non paved road, water well 185 feet deep, 200 AMP power, 100 oak trees, 20 pines trees, 10 palms, two horses, good people nearby. Not the average urban area to live, but 150 miles to the coast and 120 miles to Tahoe. Two stop lights in the whole county.
We live where we want because this is AMERICA...........
