300+ Hydrogen-Powered Buses Accelerate Green Mobility Transformation in East China City

Weifang, an eastern Chinese city, is witnessing a green mobility transformation with the adoption of hydrogen-powered buses. These fuel cell buses use oxygen and hydrogen to generate electricity for propulsion, emitting only water vapour, making them an ideal zero-emission solution for public transportation. Weifang currently boasts over 300 fuel cell buses and seven hydrogen refuelling stations, showcasing a commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly urban transportation.

(ECNS) -- The prototype of China's self-developed and the world's first four-seater hydrogen-fueled internal combustion engine aircraft completed its maiden flight at an airport in Shenyang, northeast China's Liaoning Province on Monday.

According to test pilots, the aircraft demonstrates ample power, minimal engine vibration, and excellent maneuverability, which lays a solid foundation for the next phase of tests.

The aircraft conducted its verification flight on March 25, 2023 in Shenyang and underwent technological improvements. Its core components have initially realized localization with engine power reaching 120 kilowatt in the test.

As the aviation section moves towards decarburization, aircraft with hydrogen fuel will achieve zero carbon emissions in the future, said Sun Xiaoping, chief technologist at Liaoning General Aviation Academy...more

Those who (STILL!) insist that "There's no such thing as Green H2" need to explain to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm that she doesn't know what she is talking about. ROFL

Build a few bright shiny electrolysis demonstration projects to mask the fact that hydrogen production at scale remains, and will continue to be for quite some time, based on fossil fuels. As a pro-hydrogen report notes:

China leads the world in hydrogen production, but this production is currently emissions-intensive. In 2020, hydrogen production in China reached around 33 Mt, or 30% of the world total. China’s leading position results from its large share of the global chemical market and its considerable oil refining capacity, which are the primary sources of hydrogen demand today. China is the only country in the world that produces hydrogen from coal at significant scale: about two-thirds of China’s hydrogen production is fuelled by coal, with around 360 Mt of CO2 emissions generated in 2020.

Think. Again.

...and yet we're still just sitting back and letting them take a firm position as the world leader in Hydrogen technology.

Shouldn't we be thinking about the future of our energy security?
