GOP State Senate Leader (MN): No One Will Complain If It's 2C Warmer In Minnesota

Herp derp herp derp herp derp herp derp herp derp . . .

Sen. Paul Gazelka, the Senate Majority Leader in the Minnesota Legislature, says he doesn't think "anyone will complain" if climate change causes the state to warm by 2 degrees celsius.

The leading Republican in the Minnesota Senate made the statement on Twitter, in response to a tweet by WCCO reporting on Minneapolis' decision to declare a "climate emergency."

"Stop scaring Minnesotans! Clean energy yes, panic no," he wrote. "The sky is not falling. We are taking better care of the environment. We can focus on clean energy that is reliable and affordable. If Minnesota is 2 degrees warmer in 100 years, I don’t think anyone will complain."

EDIT

Bring Me The News asked Sen. Gazelka whether he stood by his comment about whether anyone "will complain" if such a temperature rise were to lead to the changes described above. We also asked him what he classes as "clean energy," and to provide more context to his comment that "we are taking better care of the environment," considering the U.S. saw a spike in fossil fuel emissions in 2018 after several years of decline. His response did not address the 2-degree question, instead focusing on the clean energy query posed by BMTN.

Feedback loops will cause irreversible runaway warming that will kill all life. Think Venus. Two degrees Celsius is where the momentum takes us to hell.

Usually in SE Minnesota, we get steamy in July. Had not happened for the past several years. SHORT Autmuns as well. This last Winter, Rochester recorded RECORD snowfall of almost 87 inches. I wonder what is in store for winter 2019-2020.

Why do I live here? We pay more in taxes in order to have the NICER things low tax states do not have.

“We’re taking better care of the environment” ?? Really?

“We don’t need no stinking regulations” has become the mantra of the GOP. Dirtier air and water by decree, higher levels of mercury in the streams and rivers is now acceptable, no regulations on Monsanto poisoning our crops, heaven forbid!, more reliance on coal, the suppression of renewable energy initiatives, coal ash waste being allowed to be dumped into our rivers and streams.....
Need I go on?

And by the way, let’s not forget about the great GOP economic policies like taxation - those that have lined the pockets of the rich at the expense of the group formerly known as the working class. I for one, saw no benefit. Many of my taxable deductions were eliminated to come up with more money give to the rich - those who need it the least.

70% of the country wants any kind of meaningful gun legislation, yet we are held hostage by a fricking lobbying group!!!! ABSURD! Of the GOP, by the GOP, for the GOP, and screw the rest of us. As much as I don’t care for for Michael Moore, he was right in one regard. After you leave the voting booth, it becomes ....fuck you!

And while we’re at it, don’t forget the tremendously fantastic....the greatest in history...foreign policy initiatives. No more missiles in North Korea, let Russia keep Crimea (to be fair, partly Obama’s legacy as well), to hell with Ukraine, the abandonment of our Kurdish allies, sucking the ——-ck of the Saudi prince, the sucking of the —ck of Erdogan, sucking the —ck of Putin, while alienating the allies that have stood by our side in the worst of times. And we are to be impressed? How any dimwit can’t see this sham of an administration for what it is doesn’t say much for the 34% how steadfastly adore this chump of a president and his party of weasels.

This administration has been nothing more than an all out assault on the environment, on freedom, health, democracy, and morality. For this idiot from MN to claim we have nothing to worry about (the environment, to get back to the article) is nothing more than proud surrender to a disgustingly failed party.

Some of our lakes and rivers are having water issues now. Considering the climate projections I have seen are indicating less rain, climate change won't be all that great for MN either.

No ice for ice fishing! No snow for snowmobiling! Too warm on deer hunting opener! Lakes are too warm to support walleye!

Clearly Minnesotans would complain. We value our winters.
