9 Candidates Will Take Part In Weather Channel Climate Policy Show 11/7, But Not Biden Or Trump
The Weather Channel is producing a program featuring interviews with Democratic and Republican presidential candidates on climate change policy but no front-runner Joe Biden.
Nine candidates will be featured in the special airing Nov. 7: Democratic candidates Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey, Sen. Kamala Harris of California, Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, former Rep. Beto O'Rourke of Texas and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg, and Republican candidates former Rep. Mark Sanford of South Carolina, former Gov. Bill Weld of Massachusetts and former Rep. Joe Walsh of Illinois.
Former Vice President Joe Biden, the front-runner among the Democrats in most recent polls, is not participating in the cable network's program. Biden's campaign did not return a request for comment, but an official told The Washington Post that he had a scheduling conflict.
It will be the third nationally televised candidates' climate policy event for the 2020 presidential race, following town hall-style forums by CNN and MSNBC. The Weather Channel's event will not air live and will instead be an edited one-hour program, the channel announced today. "We are proud to expand our original programming and address the serious conversations about climate change that are taking place in the 2020 race," Nora Zimmett, chief content officer at the Weather Channel, said in a statement.
