Poor Lindsey Graham Can't Get Any Other SC Republicans To Visit His Little Green Climate Treehouse
EDIT
But U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham cant get much of anyone from South Carolina to follow him into the Roosevelt Conservation Caucus just yet. A month after announcing the caucus as a GOP-fueled effort to claim a pro-environmentalist message, the ranks arent filling up with the states other Republicans.
Maybe its because the announcement came the same day Graham, R-S.C., said President Donald Trump should admit that climate change is real and help find solutions that protect the environment without destroying the U.S. economy. The caucus has 24 Republican members 11 from the Senate and 13 from the House. None is from South Carolina, according to a recent list of participants provided by Grahams office.
Some say they dont need to join a caucus to speak out against what they see as an issue being pushed to the extreme on the left heading into 2020. The Trump administration along with Congress have unleashed an economic and environmental revival for our country through common-sense deregulation and encouraging innovation, U.S. Sen. Tim Scotts office said in a provided statement.
EDIT
Graham said he expects more of his colleagues will sign on. All it will take is time. Republicans are going to be looking for a place to land eventually, he told Palmetto Politics. Were either going to have a relevant position on the environment or begin to lose ground.
