Climate change lecture heats up, warranting police presence

Climate change lecture heats up, warranting police presence

ANDOVER — An informational talk held at Memorial Hall Library, regarding the scientific evidence for climate change and its impacts, quickly erupted into a series of name-calling and yelling before police were called to help disperse people from the event. ... "I kind of felt like I was on a reality TV show," said Alison Page, 34, a lecture attendee. "I wasn't expecting that from an event at the library."
What was aimed to be a meaningful presentation and discussion based on Boston University Professor Anthony Janetos' research dating back decades, as well as information drawn from the most recent U.S. National Climate Change Assessment that he co-wrote, eroded as rapidly as the Earth's surface, some climate change believers might say.
"I can no longer say I've never had someone stand up in the middle of a meeting and call me a 'liar' and 'not a real scientist' because that happened (Wednesday) night," said Janetos, who led the talk.

"One member in the audience was so adamant that climate change science is a farce that he accused Janetos of being 'a liar,'" Page wrote. "This caused a woman in the back of the room to erupt in anger and start name calling." ... Page said the woman called the man an "arrogant fool" and told him to "sit down" because she "will not listen to (him) for another second." ... That audience member to call Janetos a 'liar' was Shiva Ayyadurai, who told the Eagle-Tribune he is a lifelong green activist and accomplished scientist.

I'd say the climate change deniers won the day as they were able to shut down the meeting. There has to be a way to escort attention-seeking loudmouths who disrupt public discourse out of a meeting while allowing the people who want to have a civilized discussion get on with their business. We can't give these idiots positive feedback like this or they'll just keep doing it.
BTW: Ayyadurai is the guy who ran (and lost big time) against Elizabeth Warren for a Senate seat. He is also the nutjob who insists he invented email and is suing people who (and this is ironic) call him a "liar" for making that claim. If he now claims to be a "green" anything, it's because "green" is the latest cool buzzword.

I'd say the climate change deniers won the day as they were able to shut down the meeting. I was sitting there to hear a lecture and I could not believe how the angry fascist white liberal racists nearly lynched the wonderful brown MIT scientist Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai simply for calling out incorrect facts that the fake scientist presenter from BU was giving. One racist white liberal woman even told Dr. Shiva to go back to Bombay. Perhaps she was mad that he ran as an independent last year against Liz Warren and exposed how she supported the Monsanto Peotection Act to poison us and enrich herself. Perhaps she was mad that Dr. Shiva was the lead GREEN scientist in the Pierce Brisbane film Poisoning Paradise. Perhaps she was mad that one of Dr. Shiva’s many companies works on cures for Alzheimer’s and pancreatic cancer. Perhaps she was mad that Dr. Shiva actually invented email as a child and she’s annoyed by spam today. Perhaps she’s mad that Dr. Shiva divorced actress Fran Drescer. Who knows. I guess we will never fully understand the one-sided fascist mental midgets that are part of friends of Memorial Hall Library who do not believe in free speech unless it’s from a white person who agrees with their narrative regardless of any facts, These are the same people that refused to have Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai do a talk last year on some of the many topics he is well-versed in such as the future of email and our digital privacy, as well as health and the dangers of GMO‘s.
