Wind, solar farms produce 8% of US power in 2017

https://renewablesnow.com/news/wind-solar-farms-produce-8-of-us-power-in-2017-629831/

October 12 (Renewables Now) - About 8% of the US’ power last year came from wind and solar parks, including small-scale photovoltaic (PV) facilities, show statistics by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).

According to data released on Thursday, wind and solar generation combined reached or exceeded 20% of the total power production in 10 states. Of the 10 states with the highest share of wind and solar generation, wind takes the lead in almost all of them.

Iowa was at the top of the ranking last year with annual wind and solar generation of 37%, including 36.8% of wind and 0.2% of solar. In some states, however, such as California, Nevada, Massachusetts and Arizona, solar outpaced wind. Solar power production in California, for example, stood at 15.6%, against 6.4% for wind.

During some months, wind accounted for over 50% of in-state electricity generation in Iowa and Kansas, while solar was responsible for over 20% of in-state power production in California.

Midwest Energy(Berkshire-Hathaway)is adding 450 new Wind Generators to the Northwestern area of Iowa. What is so sad is this, the local Governmental Units are fighting the construction of Transmission Lines to take advantage of these new Power Sources.

False believes die hard in Rural America.

to dissuade voters by injecting verbage "will be costly for consumers"...yes, there will be costs in the short term...but long term..savings..and is a vehicle for jobs...

Imagine - AZ - approx. 360 days of sunshine and we don't harness that energy.....THINK AZ

You like your utility bills?? - I sure as hell don't....

Does nothing to liberate us from ever increasing electricity bills.

Rooftop solar does.
