Welsh govt ready to help fund 320-MW tidal lagoon
January 11 (Renewables Now)

The Welsh government could provide a “substantial investment” for the 320-MW Swansea Bay tidal lagoon project, it was announced on Wednesday.

The First Minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones, has also sent a letter to UK Prime Minister Theresa May, proposing to cover some of the project’s costs and urging the government to allow the project to move on.

(snip)

According to the project’s website, the Swansea bay complex will consist of 16 hydropower turbines that are expected to generate enough electricity for 155,000 homes over 120 years. Tidal Lagoon Power got a development consent order in 2015 but talks for a contract for difference (CfD) have been inconclusive. The project has also been delayed due to a big review of tidal lagoon technology, requested by the government.

The developer says on its website it could start on-site works on the 320-MW scheme in 2018.

1. 155,000 homes they say. Whose homes?

This is the stupidest measure of energy ever created, but it hides a lot of bullshit so it doesn't go away.

I don't see how anyone calling themselves an environmentalist could support a project like this.

...the fish to eat it as well.

Who needs fish?

The "MW" bull should go over well, and help the world to build more offshore gas rigs like that offshore oil and gas shithole of a country, Denmark since the tides are, the wind, not constant.

One thing that's very clear about the liars who hype the failed, expensive and useless so called "renewable energy" scam is that they have never in their lives passed an introductory high school physics course, being unable to comprehend the difference between a watt and a joule.

We're at 408 ppm as of today, despite half a century of victory dances for the so called "renewable energy" scam.
