This Woman Spent 14 Years Photographing The Worlds Oldest Trees.

Did you know that there are ancient trees on our planet that are thousands and thousands of years old?

Some of them have been around for so long, they even predate the existence of Islam and Christianity.

I myself have always been fascinated by trees and felt a special connection to them.

In this collection of breath taking photographs, Beth Moon — a photographer based out of San Francisco — traveled all around the world to capture some of the most remarkable ancient trees that she could find.

“Standing as the earth’s largest and oldest living monuments, I believe these symbolic trees will take on a greater significance, especially at a time when our focus is directed at finding better ways to live with the environment” explains Beth Moon.

She published her incredible photos in her book “Ancient Trees: Portraits Of Time” which will be linked at the bottom of this article. Here you can have a sneak preview of her journey.

Enjoy

I came across one of them, Diksom Forest, which resembles one from my home in Vieques Island PR. I have a pic of the Ceiba tree from our vacation there a couple of years ago. It is with sadness that I include this pic, from FB, before and after Maria.

The damage has been severe to a lot of the trees and coconut palm trees. It is "Winter" in the region now so how much will green up again will not be known for several months. We will see for ourselves when we return in late July/early August. That will be before the next hurricane season. Most of the videos on FB/youtube are from Puerto Rico but more are being posted from Vieques. It was not until last week when we were able to contact some of our family there and thankfully they are OK.
