(111,276 posts)but I think we all know that can't happen. The west is dry, it's supposed to be dry, barring the kind of climate shift that would likely kill most of us off.

(67,420 posts)how CA is. I recall one year of no rain all winter til March 1st then it rained every day in March (the march miracle it was called) and the year ended up above average overall

I remember feeling really awful when there was nothing in December, January and February.
We were flushing toilets with shower water and we always had a bucket in the shower, and I always showered with my wife...sigh...
We lived in San Diego at the time, and when the rains came, we took a trip up to Big Sur to see the flowers.
It's strange in a way, how a state with so much natural beauty can actually be synthetic.
As a Southern Californian, I always felt more than a little guilt about the disappearance of Lake Owens.
Psychologically, I think, it's one reason I left.
