U.P. worker hurt at safety class gets $1M

Forgive Shawn Strasburg if he doesn't appreciate the irony.
The Union Pacific carman was at a work-ordered safety class when his office chair collapsed — causing him to suffer debilitating lower-back injuries.
Three years, two artificial disks, one 10-hour back operation and seemingly endless months of pain and rehabilitation later, Strasburg found some relief Friday.
A Douglas County jury awarded the North Platte, Neb., man $1 million for medical bills, lost wages, lost earnings and other damages incurred by the fall.
