In July 2014, President Barack Obama issued an Executive Order to ensure fair pay and safe workplaces for employees of federal contractors. Now the rules to implement this good Executive Order must be developed. *To get the best rules, we need your help-send a message to the Department of Labor showing your support for fair pay! *
Federal contractors currently receive almost $700 billion in annual contracts funded by taxpayer dollars. At the same time, some of these contractors are also violating civil rights laws. President Obama's Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces Executive Order aims to hold contractors accountable for their violations by requiring them to disclose violations and providing their employees with more tools to fight wage discrimination.
The business community is pushing back to try to weaken or even halt the new rules. That's why your voice must be heard. The Department of Labor is currently accepting public comments before the Executive Order's final rules are released. Your comments will ensure that we set the best possible rules to help close the pay gap.
