1. He wants to cut pensions and needs the support of unions to win

Chuy has the teacher's union and they are both fighting for SEIU's endorsement.

2. I'm not completely informed on Chicago politics,

but a couple of years ago, Rahm appeared to be a union buster, and charter schools have been historically unfriendly towards unions. Now, here's Rahm and the charter corps holding hands and singing Kumbaya.

Call it my overly suspicious mind, but doesn't this seem a little too convenient in light of the election?

Will the unions fall for this and take the safety of a Rahm endorsement or go for the guy we know is on their side? My take on Emanuel, he's a bit vindictive, so if the endorsement goes to Garcia and Emanuel wins, it won't be pretty. Then, again, I wouldn't trust Emanuel to support the unions in return for their support in the election either just because he says he will, would anyone?
