From artificial flowers to patio furniture, Omaha retailers are experiencing a backlog of merchandise due to a labor dispute that’s holding up shipments at West Coast ports.

David Mangelsen, owner of Mangelsen’s craft and party supply store, said his U.S. supplier is still waiting on spring shipments of seasonal items, such as artificial flowers, flower pots and outdoor items.

Larry Bishop, store operations manager for the At Home store in Omaha near 132nd Street and West Center Road, said the periodic backlogs, which Mangelsen said he’s been experiencing since fall, also create a rush of merchandise.

“When it did let up, and all this got released, I got bombarded,” Bishop said. “It did trickle all the way down to my store level.”
