An Omaha woman is suing the Nebraska Department of Corrections because she said the agency discriminated against her medical condition during her training to become a prison guard.

According to a complaint filed last month in U.S. District Court, Jennifer L. Henning said she was unjustly fired for being diabetic. She is seeking an unspecified amount of money in damages as well as attorney fees.

Henning, 29, was hired in April of 2012 as a prison guard at the Omaha Correctional Center. Henning said she passed a physical test and received a doctor's clearance to perform the required duties.
