Washington, DC - In advance of the U.S. Senate nominations showdown expected to take place this month and in light of Republican Senators continued obstruction of nominees to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and allies are holding a Day of Action tomorrow to mobilize voices across the country and send a clear message to the Senate: confirm the current 5 nominees to the NLRB.
The voices involved in tomorrows Day of Action will make clear that if the nominees continue to be blocked, the Senate Democratic Majority must change the Senate rules to allow for an up or down vote on the nominees. The stakes are high: if the Senate doesnt confirm all five members before its August recess, 80 million private sector workers will lose the protections of labor law by Labor Day.
As part of the Day of Action on the NLRB, CWA and allies including Sierra Club, Blue Green Alliance, Jobs with Justice, and the AFL-CIO are engaging in rallies, leafleting, and petition drives in a total of 26 states. Among the activities:
