It's solidarity Saturday, let's read the comics!

If you’re old enough to remember local newspaper deliveries on weekends, then you probably remember that the weekend comics were the best part!

This week, the news from our union is that workers filed to join the union in Miami, FL, Pittsburgh, PA, and Renton, WA. And workers won their union elections in Medford, OR, and Omaha, NE. A banner headline welcome to all the new partners and union members!

Now, on to the comics page! Check out and share our latest comic on what we’re fighting for in a contract - specifically expanded paid time off (PTO), sick leave, and leave of absence (LOA).

As partners, we all know what it’s like to feel burnt out, or worry about calling out when we need to because we might not have the sick or vacation time to cover our lost pay. Unionized Starbucks partners are demanding written, guaranteed protections and improvements to PTO and LOA accrual in our union contract. We want to make sure all workers can take time off when necessary without worrying.
SBWU members put this comic together to explain a little of what we’re talking about!
If you’re a partner, or know someone who works at Starbucks, and is working stressed, tired, or without access to PTO: Get in touch with the union and find out how to start organizing!

Extra shot of solidarity: Hundreds of students are demanding the heads of UCLA and UC Riverside kick Starbucks off their campuses! Its clear that students don't want their schools to be aligned with anti-worker companies that break labor law. We're grateful for their solidarity Check out the story in local news and send share the story on social media to spread the solidarity.

As always, the best way to stay up to date on all the new stores, workers, and updates is by following us on social media, and telling everyone you know to sign the No Contract, No Coffee pledge for email updates like this one.

See you at the cafe,
