Unions Going Green

So, I'm putting on my AFL-CIO hat tonight to help push out another feature on the AFL-CIO site that taps into union actions that are innovative and supportive of the community.

I talked with architects in a NYC AFSCME local whose union pushed for training funds to help members get LEED certification. They work in the public sector, so help build green schools, museums, and so on. Very dedicated group of professionals who love their work. There are multiple aspects here to build on--unions going green, unions being at the forefront of making sure workers have cutting-edge training, union members whose work inspires and educates the communities (including young people) in which they build, and union members who work in the public sector, advancing that sector in ways that excel much of the private sector.

Please share! Thanks much.
