AT&T and the Communications Workers of America have reached a tentative agreement that includes wage and pension increases, the company said Monday night in a news release.

"Paperwork is being finalized. All ... agreements will be submitted to the union's membership for a ratification vote, and collectively cover more than 22,000 AT&T wireline employees in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee," AT&T said.

The company and union had been chipping away at peripheral contract issues, but remained separated on key wage and benefit areas. The employees involve work with landlines. The contract dispute does not involve wireless or mobility employees.

The original contract between CWA District 3, which includes Local 3616, and AT&T expired at midnight Saturday.
