Just a quick heads up, high school students. You might want to save your job application efforts for retail gigs, because the fast food space is about to be invaded by robots.
We already showed you an autonomous grillmaster that can monitor and flip an entire grill full of patties. Todays bot is even more versatile. Not only can it cook the patty, but it can also dice up fresh toppings like tomatoes, pickles, and onions
and it can even deftly stack everything on a toasted bun.

(4,062 posts)The drooling conservative losers over on discussionist used to think it was the only argument against a minimum wage. Strangely it's the exact same picture from like 2014 in this article even though they say they got all that venture cash. You'd think they'd have been developing it over the years if it were a real thing.
So, I won't hold my breath. Besides, lets be honest here. It will get really greasy and dirty over time. The business owner that would put this in is also likely the business owner you read about in the health inspection failures.
Personally, the installation of such a robot will be a guarantee that I will not patronize such a business. It simply speaks to how the owner fails at basic understanding of why I would choose to eat out rather than cook at home.

(111,359 posts)other than a military mess hall or other large institution with a large captive consumer base. And we all know what flash frozen burgers from vending machines or the freezer case in the supermarket are like: hockey pucks in soggy bread, so having a central burger factory distributing them frozen to restaurants to be "fresh nuked" is not going to go over well.
While this is a cash cow owner's wet dream, it's just not terribly practical.
Mid level chain restaurants are going under now, so even developing robot line cooks producing a limited menu is not going to be viable.
It looks like jobs in fast food joints are safe for a while, at least. However, if wages don't go anywhere but down in purchasing power, those will follow the mid level line cook jobs and retail jobs down the drain.
The advertising video tries to make it sound like it's some gourmet burger, but robotic processing is the exact antithesis of gourmet.
It seems to me the target audience who would install these robotics wouldn't be particularly interested in quality over profit.
