Lowe's announces second round of layoffs

MOORESVILLE, N.C. • Home improvement retailer Lowe's has announced its second round of layoffs in just over a month, saying more than 500 full-time corporate employees companywide will lose their jobs.

Local news outlets report Lowe's announced Tuesday that 430 workers at its headquarters in Mooresville would be laid off. In addition, 70 support staffers in Wilkesboro and about 25 corporate support positions in other facilities across the U.S. would lose their jobs.

On Jan. 17, Lowe's announced approximately 2,400 full-time workers would be laid off. A majority of the cuts were at the store level.

Meanwhile, the company said Lowe's will post more than 100 new positions at its corporate offices in Mooresville and will add at least 600 full-time customer-support and central production office positions in Wilkes County.

First they fire you and then they tell you, okay,we have these new positions available, but, you will need to reapply for these positions with zero seniority and probationary pay scale. Long story short, you just got fired because you are beyond the Corporate Pay Scale. But,you can reapply for your old job 10.28/hr. and no benefits for the first 90 days and your probationary period is 90 days depending on job title.

hurtful to workers who are loyal and honest each and everyday, and, you know darn well, when you do apply for your job again, this is what happens, your hours are going to be a minimum of 12hrs to a max of 36 will zero chance of any overtime or extra hours.

Most of these effected workers are most likely sitting with Mortgages and other major obligations. This is expected by Lowe's when you enter any of their Management enhancement Programs. Seen the total demise of several of these folks more than once.

and those 2400 full time jobs at store level that were eliminated are most likely the same. I bet you can reapply for a part time seasonal position as lawn and garden are going to being hiring very shortly. Of course those will be with fewer hours and much lower pay scales.
