He spoke at the Physicians for a National Health Program a couple of months ago, and said that single payer was a necessary consequence of increasing automation. Apparently even Foxconn has gone to robotic factories. That is, those cheap workers with nets around their workplaces and dormitories to prevent them from committing suicide by jumping off roofs are still too much trouble to bother with.
