Don't know much about football

but will yesterday's winner mean market up or down?

DEFINITION of 'Super Bowl Indicator'

An indicator based on the belief that a Super Bowl win for a team from the old AFL (AFC division) foretells a decline in the stock market for the coming year, and a win for a team from the old NFL (NFC division) means the stock market will be up for the year.

Denver won.

So the would foretell a decline in the stock market in the coming year.

Last year, when New England won (another original AFL team), the S&P was down very slightly.

And the markets are down just as the oldest baby boomers are turning 70, many will by 70 1/2 by Dec. 31st, meaning a Required Minimum Withdrawal from 401Ks and IRAs

That may boost spending and reduce equity purchases. That would boost the market.

Tough on boomers, though. They've had a good ride. Their grandkids - not so much.
