If you could date a totally hot celeb who would it be?

Time and space have no meaning for this question. You could pick a celebrity from your youth and that's fine.

For myself, I'll set the time machine for way back: and date Barbara Eden from her days in "I Dream of Jeanie."

Ben Cohen is a former professional British rugby player whose foundation is called Standup. He speaks to crowds about not being mean or bullying people who are different. His own father died when a patron at his bar beat him to death when he himself was trying to break up a barroom brawl. Ben is deaf partially, so playing rugby professionally had to be a challenge. Lastly, he is so amazingly handsome and sexy. I'd date him for sure because he seems to be beautiful both inside and out. But, that's just me.

254. News Flash: It seems I'm "never going to have sex with any of those women in bathing suits!" (sob)
Tue Feb 26, 2013, 01:23 PM
Feb 2013

Like Sophia Loren circa Boy on a Dolphin. I am NEVER GOING TO HAVE SEX WITH HER so therefore I'm a sad deluded fuck for appreciating her physical attractiveness.

(Not to mention the fact that finding someone sexually, visually attractive means you TURN THEM INTO AN OBJECT which is why you want to have sex with shoelaces and doorknobs and elevator buttons and all those OBJECTS, sicko!)

I guess they missed the part about happily married; and yeah, even if Olivia Munn showed up at my door tomorrow wearing nothing but saran wrap (which would be totally insane, given how ass-cold it is here, now) I would gladly say "sorry, not available, but here's a blanket. Warm up." My wife, I can state with some solid assurance, would do the same thing if that beefy werewolf guy from True Blood showed up. And yeah, she likes him, although she thinks he's a shitty actor.

(this one's for you, honey! 6'5"? Christ!)

The fact that we can both appreciate the physical attractiveness of other humans, with or without the occasional tongue in cheek, does not deter from our relationship and our deep fundamental multi-leveled attraction to each other.

Erm, Because we're grown ups, not insecure teenagers.

I think it should be also pointed out that not every man in this thread has been talking about women....and that's cool.

I got heavily into The Doors at about age 12 or 13, kind of a typical age for that. Moved on to other bands, different, more complex or higher valence vibes, but every once in a while something like "Roadhouse Blues" comes up on my ipod shuffle, and, yeah...

I watched a documentary on the doors on OPB a few weeks ago, kind of got me in the mood to listen to them again.

there are a few female singers who do it for me; Natalie Merchant, as I mentioned upthread.

Sarah McLachlan, whose music has become a bit too middle-of-the-road for my taste, but she's still hot;

Deborah Harry, back in the day? Damn.

12 was bubblegum pop- Madonna and Duran Duran were just getting up a good head of steam about then. Around a year and a half later, I discovered Priest and the whole world shifted on its axis. It really broke my 15 year old heart when I found out Halford was gay.

Even after the Doors phase wore off though, Morrison stayed fascinating (and hot). One of a VERY short list of men I'd break out the time machine to have sex with. And yes, his music floats around my playlist now and then too.

When REM started going "national", I was already pretty much immersed in the "non-hair" metal of the time (Sabbath, Ozzy, Dio, Maiden etc.. ) and old school prog like Tull, Yes etc.. mainly because that was when I was really developing as a guitarist and to be honest, most of those "college" bands` guitar work was underwhelming (compared to the "guitar gods" of that time at least).. Now, years later, I can better appreciate the songwriting and other aspects of bands like them though. (But no way will I ever get on board with shit like The Smiths, or Joy Division, or any of the New York hipster swill like the Strokes ir Sonuc Youth lol)

as for R.E.M., Peter Buck's guitar was, at least the legend has it, a deliberate artistic response to the crazy soloing stuff of the Duane Allmans of the world... which I happen to also like, it's just a different style.

And the truth is that Buck was still learning when those guys started out; although to my mind he put together a tight style and distinctive sound pretty quick. But it's pretty clear from the first few albums that the musicianship was being driven in large part by the team of Mike Mills on the bass and Bill Berry on the drums. I still think that those early IRS years albums- murmur, reckoning, FOTR, lifes rich pageant- hold up real well. Timeless.

Also under-appreciated, IMHO, is the murky psychedelia of early R.E.M.... albums like Murmur, with the right combination of chemicals, you could really get your head inside them for 50 minutes or whatever, kind of the way you can with Dark Side of the Moon. A lot going on underneath the surface.

But, of course, nothing is more subjective than musical taste. I never got into metal growing up; it wasn't on my radar screen- although in my old age I have developed an appreciation for Ozzy much as I have developed an appreciation for Willie.

I did like Jethro Tull and King Crimson, speaking of prog rock.. and speaking of albums that have held up well. I think I spent a good couple months of my junior year in HS doing nothing but smoking pot and listening to "Discipline". So any time I make an "Elephant Talk" joke in meta ("badger.. brou ha ha.. bicker...bicker...BICKER!&quot that's why.

I was never terribly into the Smiths, either, although I had an exceedingly hot girlfriend in college who was, so that should have put a dent in my psyche. Except she was vegetarian ('vegan' not having yet entered the lexicon) and I was an enthusiastic carnivore, so the whole "meat is murder" thing became a point of friction---- and not the good kind.

It was just that the chord work, minimalist solo type thing was what I had cut my teeth on early with the Beatles.. (some incredible interplay between John and George on most of their stuff... Still boggles my mind, some of it.) Then again, I also went through a big "hippie" stage.. Wore out my LP of Woodstock, getting baked and trying to play along with Alvin Lee's amazing performance lol.

Not of being at Woodstock, of course, but of getting high and watching the movie, too.

It's no coincidence the Dead's performance (except for a shot of Jerry smoking a joint) isn't in there; it's pretty legendary that they were terrible at Woodstock. Not helped, of course, by the fact that the storm picked up as they got on stage, the big sheet behind the stage was acting like a sail and pulling the stage through the mud like a boat, plus every time Bob got close to the mic he would nearly get electrocuted.

You a Jay Mascis fan? Seems like he's widely regarded as one of the guitar guys who was never appreciated as much as he deserved. I was having an early 90s nostalgia moment and I put an old Dinosaur Jr. Album on my ipod... at the time I didn't appreciate the technical aspects of musicianship. I have a lot of musicians in my family and my kids are showing some aptitude for it, though, so I'm developing more of an appreciation for it from that angle. I can't play at all.

When a person finds some other attractive it does not mean that the desire for going directly to the ' logical terminal conclusion' exists.
The woman I cited(Jamie Lee Curtis) was noted for wit, and the confidence to wear graying hair.
There would be a 'courting' phase' that might render Dutch liberals assumption invalid.
In addition my wife might not like this going beyond admiration in theory, and she expresses no feeling of being threatened by a theoretical.

I don't care about his "Funky Bunch" days...even though I was a punk rock girl in HS and College my friends and I loved to dance and the local clubs usually played cheesy music like Good Vibrations/ Young MC/ Tone Loc and Technotronic (think the hot Revlon commercials with Cindy Crawford)...but we had a blast.

I was reminded of him as he was on Howard today...yeah I listen to him and a lot of men and women don't like him but he makes me laugh and has good guests... and Kelly & Michael which I watched and recorded.

He is still hot.

Oh yeah....Jeremy Renner and John Cusack. Lloyd!

He is wicked smart (yeah I'm from NE) and living the suburban life now but still kicks ass. I've seen Black Flag several times...shit...maybe I should add Rollins to my list...fuck..well I might as well add Mike Ness too.

Even though I was the p-rock girl (saw The Ramones over 20 times and met them once backstage) we loved to dance so the music was cheesy, but fun.

I always hung with other punks, hippies and metal heads because we loved music, drugs and dare I say it...sex.

I've seen R.E.M a few times and just found out Norman Reedus is in their "Strange Currencies" video at the 2:44 mark. I love that song.

Dark, gritty, but great drama. I think I tried a few times to watch random episodes and I couldn't figure out what was going on or where the sci-fi was supposed to be. Then I watched it properly from the beginning and, zang.

Which is why he married mom. Guess what? I'm a brunette with good legs. Surprise!!

He was born in 1911. He always watched the Rockettes in the Macy's Parade.

He liked Sophia Loren and Ingrid Bergman.
His first crush was Lillian Gish.

He made an exception for Marilyn Monroe as a blonde that he liked. People seem to forget that she was an excellent singer in "My Heart Belongs to Daddy" and "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend".

He thought Isabella Rossellini was beautiful too. She used to go on Dave Letterman's show and he was gobsmacked. Couldn't talk because she was so beautiful.

Isabella(R) & her famous mother, Ingrid Bergman:

Dad did not read girlie magazines. He thought that was ungentlemanly.
His only comment on that was "Most of them look a helluva lot better with their clothes on."

He never said anything about his single life. Except that when he was 89 years old and dying of cancer, he said "I never had any trouble getting any."

I knew several little old ladies who had crushes on him.

I was thinking about her last weekend as she used to date Edward Furlong from Terminator 2, American History X (one of my favorite movies) and I thought he was pretty cute back then. He went through some weird deal prior to their relationship.... he got emancipated from his relatives and was dating his tutor who was twice his age....he was 14 or 15 and she was almost 30...also briefly dated Paris Hilton. Since then he's had a son and gotten arrested several times for various reasons....drugs, domestic violence etc...

My good friend and next door neighbor lives with her mother who is in her eighties and can't take care of herself. I went over to her house last Sunday and her mother always gets the Enquirer and for a laugh I always skim through it. The latest issue had a picture of Edward Furlong looking terrible with some obvious "arm" issues. Very sad.

Natasha Lyonne went through some hard times with addiction but it seems she got it together. I hope EF can as addiction is such a tough thing to beat and usually ends in death as the body can only take so much...here's the picture from the Enquirer:

so the guy is this guy:

Peter Capaldi. I'm like, who's he? Oh, okay, you know who he is? He's the frikkin' dorky kid from the 1983 film "Local Hero" also starring Peter Riegert and the late Burt Lancaster.

I do recognize him and just looked him up and have seen 3 movies he was in. Dangerous Liaisons, Captives, Max (great movie with John Cusack) and he was in World War Z but haven't seen that yet.

Your story reminds me of when I was watching an old episode of Sex and the City last week for about 5 minutes (I watched every episode when it was on...I know, pretty lame but never saw any of the movies) and SJP is talking to some guy in a bar and I'm like is that Bradley Cooper? Yes it was...and obviously very early in his career. He's pretty hot.

Yeah, that was a weird one. I did see it, but a long time ago.

As for Local Hero- it's a fairly understated flick that nonetheless has garnered a small cult-like following over the years. It's cute. Not roll on the floor funny, but sweet and nicely shot.

Perhaps Supermodel Adriana Lima can explain the finer points of the distinction to us.

Okay. I stopped at the end of Miley Cyrus's song, so I can't speak to the other "controversial" material; so- my take?

first off, she probably ought to not do that thing with her tongue. It just looks weird.

That said, I actually kind of like that song. I especially appreciate that it tweaks the "authorities" in exactly the places where they ought to be tweaked- sex, drugs, personal freedom.

A positive message, from the youth.

I mean, it's fucking MTV. If they're not at least a smidge edgy, they're not doing their job. They bleep out the drug reference because... yeah, when have there ever been drug references in rock and roll songs?

I wonder what next year's show will be like.

My boyfriend I had at the time came home home from work one day and was like, I heard this new band I really like (we always listened to this RI college station) so we got into Nevermind about 6 months before everyone else.

Kurt was one of the types I went for....I loved guys who had shaved heads or shaggy hair and wore punk t-shirts, flannels and ratty sweaters...that's pretty much what I wore.

Will always regret not seeing them live...they were playing in Mass when I lived in CT but for some reason couldn't go and figured I would see them next time. Never got the chance.

I have a memory from my drinking days of sitting in a dive bar with some coworkers, when suddenly a very drunk homeless guy burst through the front door waving a 12 inch purple jelly dildo. He proceeded to run around the bar swinging it like mace windu's lightsaber, chased by the staff, going "weeeeweeeeweeee yayyaaaaayaaaa weeeeeweeeeweee wooohoo" or something to that effect.

I find the idea of "ooh, socially inept science nerds" sort of played out at this point. I mean, Weird Science was a mildly amusing movie, but that was like 30 years ago. Plus invariably whenever I try to watch what passes for "comedy" on the major networks, the jokes are always terminally middlebrow and laugh-track lame.

I know, media snob. Shoot me.

However, Ms. Cuoco is certainly attractive. At least to my subjective scientific analysis, beep meep.

They have to keep coming back, to see how much they still are in disapproval.

Barbara Eden is close to the top of my list too. Even later, when she was in Dallas, she was hot.

In this thread it was the first time I met some of you, got on a list as 'a frequent poster in the Men's Group' in an alert which is fucking hilarious.

I demand another one because my top 5 has changed. Plus there is always new talent coming out in the theaters and I generally like to piss off annoying people.

Tatiana Manslany = hot.

Also, once you are on the list as a "frequent poster in the mens group" ... Oh, man. --- I HOPE YOU KNOW THIS IS GOING ON YOUR PERMANENT RECORD!!!!!!!

Ps happy new year!

Got him into watching Shameless recently; I told him I thought she was so naturally beautiful.

Great skin, teeth, figure...he's thinks she is super hot and watched her on Kelly and Michael last week while working from home. He knew she was a guest before I did.

Do you watch Shameless? You would find it funny. Can someone please start a new thread? I hate loading this one...whaaaa!!!!

678. A new Adam Levine-free thread is needed. He is so very NOT HOT....

I can't believe that someone back in 2012 posted in this thread saying he was. I consider him a visual representation of all that is wrong with Maroon 5....

I'm very particular when it comes to hot celebs. A few years ago I'd have said Eddie Vedder or Lou Barlow (which I think I did say in a sequel thread), but times change and now it's Colin Morgan. He was awesome in Merlin and Humans and not as great in The Fall...

I'm glad I wandered all the way to this dank dark corner of DU when I popped in tonight. I don't often visit anymore but now I'm here I want to say hello to some of you guys I haven't talked to for a while

You can't get any more cute and adorable than this. Pudsey's just the added bit of cuteness...

I just delved down into the battlefield of GD-P to bemoan the premature end of a really meaty bit of drama unfolding in one thread with the source of the drama being so cruelly booted with a hidden post. Damn the whole thing about being locked out of a thread before a good plot can develop. I expect my post bemoaning that will end up hidden. Good thing I only turn up here once every few months lately

The men:

The women:

I love Robin Wright but I think I'm actually more in love with Claire Underwood

I have a thing for sexy, older, powerful women with British accents. Add Lisa Vanderpump as well.

Halle Berry because....well....Halle Berry.

A hot celebrity i would date would be someone fun and sexy so Selena Gomez
or Avril Lavigne. If its a celebrity from my childhood Id have to say Yvonne Craig who played Batgirl on the 60s Batman TV show
