Although there are no official numbers of violent deaths, an NGO argues that the rate is 73 deaths per 100 000 inhabitants.
Promedio:
Venezuela recorded more than 21,000 murders in 2012 due to "a general increase" in crime in the country, which is among the most violent in Latin America, said Thursday the organization Venezuelan Observatory of Violence (OVV).

. "We can conservatively estimate that 2012 will end with 21,692 deceased victims of violence, to a rate of 73 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants," said the report OVV in December 2012.

"During 2012 there was an increase in Venezuela widespread violence, which was the result of an increase in its magnitude, in its forms and in its territorial (...) despite the various measures taken by the government national prevention and control, some of them valuable in intent and design, "said the NGO.

. In late 2011, the OVV said that this year had been "the most violent national history" with a total of 19,336 murders. . However, this year the figure rose to 12%, according to the NGO.

2. Venezuelans voted for Chavez ANYWAY, because they have no faith in the rightwing...

...to solve this or any other problem, while they have plenty of reason to believe that the Chavez government can and will solve problems--such as cutting poverty in half (done!), cutting extreme poverty by over 70% (done), doubling college enrollment (done), creation of 10 new universities and thousands of new schools (done), cutting malnutrition from 21% to 5% (done), wiping out illiteracy (done), providing health to all (done), spurring an average 5% economic growth (done), responsible money management (accumulating cash reserves for "a rainy day" like the Bushwhack worldwide depression) (done), inspiring vastly increased public participation and voter turnouts (done), and more. The Chavez government solves problems. The rightwing opposition creates problems (coups, oil bosses' lockouts, greed/hoarding, poverty, massacres of protestors). Venezuelans know this, and not only voted Chavex a third term but just threw out most of the rightwing governors (who have more responsibility for high crime rates than Chavez does, anyway).

But I guess you're gearing up for the presidential election, should Chavez die or be disabled, or the coming national assembly elections, by trotting out this rightwing "talking point" ONCE AGAIN, that Venezuelan voters JUST IGNORED for two elections in a row. What ELSE have you and the corpo-fascist press got to mystify the public with, as to WHY the Chavez government keeps winning elections by big margins, just won the presidency by a 10% margin and just won 20 out of 23 governorships? Hm?

How about "Nicholas Maduro the Dictator"? That will surely explain how Chavez's VP is going to win the presidential election (if one has to be held)! Has Maduro bullied any corporate media moguls lately? Hey, there's an issue--free speech, ha-ha-ha! And, if he hasn't, y'all can just make something up that he has, and zip it round the world from corporate crap-rag to corporate crap-rag, for all to use as kitty litterbox liner (or drop into their electronic trash can, as the case may be).

Then everybody'll be going, like HOW did that DICTATOR get elected? And they'll be thinking, like, 'they must have rigged it.' But no, Jimmy Carter just said that Venezuela has "the best election system in the world." But that's good--confusion all around is good, Keep 'em guessing--and they won't think about ECONOMIC FAIRNESS.

Here ya go: INFLATION. There's your rightwing "talking point"...again. No, wait. The Chavez government has cut inflation in half. Well, back to the murder rate.

What happened to the vomit smilie? I want the vomit smilie back for posts like this. Cuz that's what it is: rightwing vomit.

You have previously conceded that was not true.

The guidelines of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Orga nization (UNESCO) say that a territory must have less than 4 percent illiteracy in order to declare it is free of illiteracy. In the last two years, Venezuela has lowered illiteracy to less than 1 percent by teaching close to 1.5 million people how to read.

http://stats.uis.unesco.org/unesco/TableViewer/document.aspx?ReportId=121&IF_Language=en&BR_Country=8620

------------------------------------

And I was wrong, above, about Venezuela creating 10 new universities. They've actually created 22 new universities.

These and other stats have EVERYTHING to do with the obsessive rightwing "talking point" about the murder rate, and other rightwing obsessions--such as inflation--while completely ignoring and never mentioning the overwhelming statistics of economic and social advances in Venezuela, during Chavez's tenure--which is WHY Venezuelans keep re-electing his government.

If you read only the corpo-fascist news and rightwing bloggers, you would NEVER understand why the Chavez government is so popular. It would be incomprehensible to you. And, guess what? The corpo-fascist news and rightwing bloggers have a yet more incomprehensible answer to that: Chavez is a dictator--and dictators, as we know, are real popular in Latin America.

Gawd. Why don't you stop defending this crap and open your mind? You are a one-note poster--anti-Chavez. Most Venezuelans disagree with you. Why do you think that is? Why did they re-elect Chavez by a 10% margin and throw out most of the rightwing governors? Your position, as reflected in your posts, that Chavez is all bad, is NOT REASONABLE.

Dragging out this colossally failed rightwing "talking point" about the murder rate is NOT REASONABLE, if you NEVER MENTION any of the reasons that Venezuelans voted for Chavez DESPITE this "talking point."

Over a 10 year period venezuela reduced illiteracy by less than 1.5% at the cost of millions and millions.

If you want to say that they therefore wiped out illiteracy, go ahead.

As to your other points: I have NEVER questioned Chavez's popularity nor have I EVER called him a dictator. I have also NEVER said Chavez is all bad. You are the one who months ago absolutely refused to site one objection you have with him.

You said:

cutting malnutrition from 21% to 5% (done)

The actual info is:

Caracas, 01 Abr. AVN .- Children malnutrition rate has been reduced by 58.5%, from 7.7 in 1990 to 3.2 in 2010, placing Venezuela as the fifth country in Latin America with the lowest malnutrition rate in children under the age of 5.

Between this and your false illiteracy claim, should I even bother checking out your other claims?

Do you just make this stuff up?
