Family survives 34 days in Peru jungle 'eating berries'
27 January 2020
The family was headed to Puerto Leguízamo but got lost and was found in Yubito, 180km downriver
A Colombian mother and her three children aged 14, 12 and 10 have been found by indigenous Peruvians 34 days after they were reported missing, authorities say.
They said they had managed to survive by eating seeds, plants and berries.
The four had been on their way back from visiting relatives in a remote area near the Peru-Colombia border when they became disorientated and got lost.
They are being treated in hospital for malnutrition and dehydration.

They may want to stay home next time someone gets the bright idea to travel!
Lucky, lucky lady and kids.
Beautiful place, but I bet it's tough to appreciate that when you're lost and hungry.
Thanks for the pics.

(160,592 posts)3. My first thought was to wonder what protected them from anacondas, etc.
I would think something special kicked in to help them focus only on what was right before them in order to being destroyed by fear, and incapable of moving in any direction at all. It's mind boggling.
Just read a couple of days ago something by someone going in there as an archaeologist who said you really need to be heavily fortified with an lot of insect repellent.
Thanks for the news!
