Mormon Family Mourns Their Dead In Mexico, Calls For U.S. To Rein In Its Guns

November 6, 20194:15 PM ET

Several members of the extended family of Mormons whose relatives were attacked in northern Mexico on Monday are speaking out, saying it's time to reject gang violence. As family members prepare to bury the nine victims killed in that attack, they also say both the U.S. and Mexico should be part of the solution.

President Trump has extended his condolences to relatives of victims — three mothers and six children, all U.S. citizens — on Tuesday. But it was Trump's offer to help by sending the U.S. military into Mexico that drew a response from both the family and Mexico's government.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador quickly rebuffed Trump's offer, saying his government will seek justice in the case. And on Wednesday, López Obrador's top security official went further, saying the U.S. could help — by stopping the flow of high-powered weapons into Mexico.

"This is a grave problem we have in the country, the smuggling of arms, particularly from the U.S.," Security Minister Alfonso Durazo said in an update on the case Wednesday morning. Of the flow of weapons from the U.S., he added, "it's what has allowed the criminal groups to increase their firepower."

blood atonement and all the massacres their own family perpetrated.

And BTW, they are not Mormons. They are Church of the Firstborn. I don't know why the press persists in saying they are Mormons.

I agree that the US needs to rein in its guns. We need to do a whole hell of a lot more than that about guns. But LeBarons are not the poster children for the cause.

3. On target. That is one seriously destructive gang which ran to Mexico when things got too hot here.

The first one down and his spawn were conscious-free murderers, etc.

You can be sure they will always be fully armed. Their lives have been truly vicious.

It does look odd for them to complain people are just too violent.

Great seeing your comments.

jumped right on the racist Republican trope that this was just a poor white family of Murican citizens massacred by the terrible Mexicans who are swarming our borders and putting MS13 into middle schools.

And because that was the ENTIRE press's first take on the incident, that is what most people now believe.

5. Absolutely. As usual they swallow whatever corporate media will dish out to them.

They never bother to think or remember, or even pay attention at any point. That's what the power structure expects in order to keep them so easily all in the dark.

Insane, and stupid.
