Chevron files ethics complaint against NY comptroller

Chevron files ethics complaint against NY comptroller
LOS ANGELES | Tue Nov 20, 2012 11:39am EST

Nov 20 (Reuters) - Chevron Corp sought to open an investigation on Tuesday into New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, claiming he pressured the oil company into settling environmental litigation in Ecuador in exchange for campaign contributions from the lawsuit's plaintiffs.

Chevron said it filed a complaint before the New York State Joint Commission on Public Ethics, seeking a probe of DiNapoli and current and past members of his staff.

DiNapoli was not immediately available for comment.

According to the Fortune 500, Chevron was the second most profitable company on the planet, at $27 billion, right behind Exxon Mobil (Well, not RIGHT behind, Exxon was at $41 billion). I'm going to try to feel some sympathy for them - - - - nope, not working.

...if that's what they did. Chevron and other corporate bastards create a system of filthy lucre campaign contributions and then get all mean and ugly when the peasants get onto it and for godssakes SUPPORT A CANDIDATE who will act in the interest of the peasants.

It's mindboggling times a thousand that Chevron dares to object to influence-buying!

I hope they get laughed out the New York State Joint Commission on Public Ethics hearing room--but they probably won't be, cuz they've been so busy buying commissioners!
