Third Perceptible Quake of the Year Registered in Cuba

Santiago de Cuba, Aug 5 (Prensa Latina) National Seismological Service stations recorded the third perceptible earthquake of the year, with a magnitude of 4.4 on the Richter scale, located 80 kilometers southeast of the town of Imias, in the eastern province of Guantanamo.

The quake occurred at 08:30 local time, on Sunday, at a depth of 15.5 kilometers and at coordinates 19.50 degrees north latitude and 74.16 west longitude, perceptible in different areas of this city and without resulting in human or material damage.

This third noticeable earthquake of the year is among those of these phenomena with a low occurrence, a situation that is closely followed by seismologists of the National Center for Seismological Research, headquartered here.
