Truck driver rescues fox with milk carton on its head

APRIL 22, 2019 / 3:50 PM

By Ben Hooper

April 22 (UPI) -- A truck driver who spotted a fox with a milk carton stuck on its head next to an Argentina road pulled over and filmed his rescue.

Eduardo Lito Nunez said he was driving in Punta Arenas when he spotted the fox in the distance and decided to come to its aid.

Nunez retrieved a pair of gloves from his truck and used his phone to film as he pulled the carton from the fox's head.

"Look at this. It is free, we removed it. We did our good deed of the day!" the truck driver says in the video.

We were in the car, he was driving, and he saw a fox in the middle of the road. At first we thought it was rabid or had distemper because it wouldn't leave the road as we approached. But then we saw that another fox had been hit, and this fox wouldn't leave the other fox's body.

He got out of the car and carried the dead fox off the road so that the other fox could grieve in safety.

I will never forget that fox's heartbreak or that young man's bravery and kindness. (He died several years later when he was barely thirty.)
