Uribe allies founded alleged Odebrecht front company: reports
by Adriaan Alsema January 7, 2019
Allies of Colombias President Ivan Duque and his political patron, former President Alvaro Uribe, reportedly received illegal funds from Brazilian engineering firm Odebrecht, but were never investigated.
Public television network Noticias Uno revealed audio from 2015 of late key witness Jorge Enrique Pizano telling Prosecutor General Nestor Humberto Martinez, who was the judicial adviser of Odebrecht partner Grupo Aval at the time, that an apparent front company called Gespin had received money from Odebrecht without providing any services for the corruption-ridden Ruta del Sol II project.
To make matters worse, Pizano told Martinez that the director of the front company was Julio Cesar Arango, who was general director of the government agency in charge of granting concessions for public works, INCO, under former President Alvaro Uribe.

The former Invias director was barred from holding public office in 2008 on six corruption charges, but visited the presidential palace on key moments during negotiations with the corrupt Brazilian company, according to Coronell.
