Venezuelan journalist gives powerful opinion on how Venezuela imploded

What do you want?
Laureano Marquez Published September 5, 2018

The total submission, the absolute submission, that you feel that outside of them you have no chance of survival, that they are the masters. It is a plan, not only of domination. It is a plan of evil. There is a joy in revenge against what is good, what is decent, what works. These destructive zombies lived among us, but we thought them less dangerous. We met them in universities, they were the worst students. It took 10 and 12 years to do what the others took five, when being mediocre and radical gave popularity and turned them into leaders. And they ended up believing that that was the way. They came from a system in which doing nothing and being irresponsible was also a way of life and found space and tolerance. They blamed the others for a mediocrity that they never finished assuming and they crouched waiting for the hour of revenge, to charge their own ruined ruin to others.

This hour, which they themselves thought would never come, by chance of history, came to an end. They rejoiced in the resentment that eats, but never in the sustained effort. There were no projects, but the self-centered eagerness to arrive from and for truculence and cheating. They learned math just to get more votes with fewer voters, but never to add. They play with the words, they call love to their daily practice of hatred.

They are mistreated who become abusers, they prepared themselves for the revenge of everything that sounds to them in their ramshackle brains to "bourgeois life". They rose up against opulence, but not for their injustice, but for envy, until they took it by assault, while proclaiming the ideology of poverty behind which they hide that they are now the new rich: "hot water is a luxury so get used to not having electricity. Bathing with totuma is divine: when I take the water out of the shower, deep down I'm doing you a favor. I connect you with the enjoyment of misery and poverty. "Their head does not give them to understand that nobody can produce at a loss, nor pay their employees more money than they enter their business, that the economy is in the end an act of faith and trust, which they do not enjoy, because they never did anything productive in life.

"Being rich is bad, very bad, but I steal money, money that I could never access through my work, ingenuity, creativity and effort. I take by force that which was denied me. Now I live in luxury urbanizations, enjoying what once seemed disgusting to me, of the luxury planes whose denunciation brought me to power, I am charging me everything that life owes me (Che's nephew said something revealing in an interview. When he arrived in Cuba, he was accommodated in the luxurious Habana Libre (old Hilton) with VIP treatment and the official told him: "you have VIP treatment for everything your uncle did so that we were all the same" ). Everything that was taken from me now is mine, because of the right that I have always been a revolutionary by trade. If you do not like misery, move to another side because here we have decreed it, for the rest".
