'Pablo Escobar's former hitman financed Duque coalition congress campaign'

by Frank Cardona June 25, 2018

Pablo Escobar‘s former hitman “Popeye” bankrolled this year’s congressional campaign of the members of the coalition of President-elect Ivan Duque, local media reported Monday.

Colombia’s chief prosecutor announced he would investigate alleged election fraud of multiple senators, including House Representative-elect Maria Margarita Restrepo.

The Medellin Cartel, again
Being linked to “Popeye,” one of the Medellin Cartel’s most notorious killers, is a political disaster for Duque.

The president-elect has repeatedly stressed that he is of a new generation, and not associated with traditional politicians’ habitual election fraud and ties to organized crime.

This is the source of the funding of the man who just won Colombia's Presidential election. He served Pablo Escobar:

Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈpa?̞lo eˈmiljo eskoˈ?̞aɾ ɣ̞aˈ?̞iɾja]; 1 December 1949 – 2 December 1993) was a Colombian drug lord and narcoterrorist. His cartel supplied an estimated 80% of the cocaine smuggled into the United States at the height of his career, turning over US $21.9 billion a year in personal income.[2][3] He was often called "The King of Cocaine" and was the wealthiest criminal in history, with an estimated known net worth of US $30 billion by the early 1990s (equivalent to about $56 billion as of 2017),[4][better source needed] making him one of the richest men in the world in his prime.[5][6]

Popeye, Pablo Escobar's head of hitmen: "Nicolás Maduro is the big boss of the Cartel of the Suns"
The ex-member of the Medellin Cartel linked the president of Venezuela with Jesús Santrich, the head of the FARC captured by drug trafficking this Monday in Colombia

Jhon Jairo Velásquez, aka Popeye , the main hit man of Colombian drug trafficker Pablo Escobar Gaviria, gave a Twitter account of the link.

"This is going to get even more complicated, the Sobrino de Santrich met with Nicolás Maduro; Cocaine passed through Venezuela 🇻🇪. The nephew of Santrich was captured and will surely declare against Maduro ... the great Capo of the poster of the Suns" - Jhon Jairo Velasquez (@Popeye_leyenda) April 10, 2018

According to the former lieutenant of the maximum narco boss in history, the guerrilla leader Santrich negotiated with Maduro, whom he points out as the leader of the Cartel de los Soles, a criminal organization, of senior officers of the Venezuelan armed forces, who for years have been in the magnifying glass of the North American authorities.

Diosdado Cabello can't be left out of the action either!

Apparently, Popeye doesn't care about the politics of who he deals with.

Trump congratulates Duque for winning Colombia’s election
by Adriaan Alsema June 25, 2018

US President Donald Trump called Ivan Duque on Monday to congratulate Colombia’s President-elect and discuss “security challenges,” White House spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders said.

. . .

Trump’s phone call came days after his vice-president, Mike Pence, called Duque and hours after the Office of National Drug Control Policy rang the alarm over record cocaine production in the South American country.

With Duque, Trump can count on more Colombian support for a hard-line approach on drug traffickers, including the forced eradication of coca, the base ingredient for cocaine, and the aerial spraying of pesticides over coca-growing regions.

. . .

Both the President-elect and the chief prosecutor have echoed US calls to increase aggressive methods in the lawless regions where illicit crops like coca, poppy or marijuana are the only economically viable crops.

Pablo Escobar's feared hitman 'Popeye' has broken his silence two years after leaving jail to claim he was never guilty of murder - and was in fact just another 'victim' of history's most notorious drug kingpin.

The 53-year-old, real name John Jairo Velasquez Vasquez, served a life sentence after admitting to killing 300 people and ordering the deaths of 3,000 more as he violently enforced Escobar's legendary reign of terror.

The Colombian, who is now in hiding fearing retribution from his victims' families, claims he is now ready to pen a tell-all memoir lifting the lid on his time in the Medellin Cartel, which left 600 police officers and thousands of civilians dead.

But despite his part in the carnage, Vasquez insists his victims were all casualties of 'the war', claiming on his newly-opened Facebook page that he is no murderer, but that 'the circumstances make the man'.
