3 Million Strong Chavista March Shakes Caracas, Venezuela

http://www.zcommunications.org/3-million-strong-chavista-march-shakes-caracas-venezuela-by-rachael-boothroyd

By 1 pm, over five of the main streets and most of the metro lines were already filled to the brim with noisy and joyous supporters, who chanted, sang, danced and blew horns as they waited for Chavez to arrive. Determined to show their support for the socialist president, many people from the nearby shantytowns surrounding Caracas descended from the hilltops on foot when they proved too numerous for local transport links.

“It was him who gave a voice to the students, who thought of the poor and brought us the revolution,” said a student to Venezuelan state TV channel, VTV.

Despite the heavy rain which flooded Caracas’ streets, the Venezuelan president managed to make his way through the crowds by 2pm, when he then addressed what has come to be known as the Chavista “sea of red.” He promised the crowd that he would be a “better president” and a “better companion” to the people during his next term.

“Within the next 6 years we should be in first place in the world for education, health, housing, nutrition and employment... In our hands the life of our homeland will not be lost, of that I am sure,” he declared.

But I doubt anyone outside of the usual Corporate controlled Western media believed any of it anyhow.

He has been a great inspiration, not only in his own country, but for the entire region who are finally exerting their Independence from the brutal Western supported dictatorships they were subjected to for so long.

Those photos are amazing.

out of intense poverty and illiteracy and seeing real democracy at work is a tribute to his efforts over the past decade, regardless of whether he wins or not.

I just read that Danny Glover is there to support him. When you look at those who support Chavez, you know you are on the good side. Right Wingers always hated him, too much 'socialism' for them, too much giving the people the benefits of their own resources.

So I don't expect them to change their ways. The Right will always oppose true democracy. They are afraid of it.

He ALWAYS get big crowds.

They're the same people who surged into the streets when they found out what the private media had been blocking in the news channels, radio shows, newspapers, even though the mayor of Caracas sent his police to shut down community tv and radio stations so THEY couldn't broadcast the truth, that Chavez had been forcibly kidnapped and taken as a prisoners by the opposition.

The same people rushed into the streets and demanded the opposition shits return their President to his office, and his family.

Yahoo.

so many terms in office, is truly amazing. Even he had lost, he had nothing to be ashamed of, but the people obviously trust him even after all this time in office. A major feat for any politician.
