Half of the political prisoners released by Maduro are his own henchmen, the violent "colectivos"

Criminal Forum: Half of the releases are NOT "political prisoners"

The Venezuelan Criminal Forum denounced on Monday that only half of the 80 releases made by the government in recent days are political prisoners and others accused of common crimes. AFP

"38 political prisoners were released. The others are common prisoners, "Gonzalo Himiob, director of the NGO, told AFP.

The lawyer José Vicente Haro said that several of the ex-convicts committed fraud, kidnapping and robbery, and that they also include "members of collectives".

"It was done to increase the figure (and show it) before the international community," said Haro, who represents one of the released.
