Cloning of PdVSA's computer system allowed the theft of $5.2 billion

Caracas, April 23. - The damage is great. Up to 5.2 billion dollars. Petróleos de Venezuela is the clearest example of the unprecedented corruption that Chavismo has committed in 20 years. So much that its operations and financial statements have been questioned harshly, because the oil has been going through several years a serious problem of cash deficit, in addition to the progressive decline in production, which went from 3.5 million barrels per day in 1998, up to 1.5 million in March 2018.
Bribes and using their resources as a petty cash for the whims of the "revolution" were one of the most talked about cases so far. Now the cloning of the computer system of the state to rig operations and loot the company is added. The case recently came to the courts in the United States.
The corrupt plot was launched since 2004 with the participation of oil company directors and energy trading companies, with an estimated damage of more than 5,200 million dollars. This was denounced by the PDVSA itself through a trust. On this, the Spanish newspaper ABC said: "Actually, it is not a crusade for cleanliness and honesty, but rather a factional struggle, in another chapter of the struggle for the plundering of the company, in half of a pulse between businessmen linked to different Chavista sectors."

(2,412 posts)Conservative estimates are saying over $350 million has evaporated. I have seen reports that $1 trillion has been siphoned off over the last 18 years.
Meanwhile, ordinary Venezuelans (90% live in poverty) dig through garbage to find something to eat.
